Long, complicated story - illness and crap jobs in the UK. After the
illness I couldn't do as much work - lots to pay out in the UK and not
enough income to cover an increasing deficit. Had to do something -
but what? A German work colleague suggested Berlin. As I've always
loved the place from the very first time I visited (1979). I welcomed
the opportunity. So, on the one hand, financial problem-solving - on
the other, the positive aspect of moving somewhere new and exciting.
Sold up in the UK, stayed in temporary accommodation in Berlin for a
while, then found a wonderful, peaceful, quiet place to buy....and
here I am.

Currently undertaking a training course with the Association of Berlin
Tourist Guides, translation job in the offing.

Few regrets. A great New Start.

What do I miss? Hills - Berlin's as flat as a pancake! BBC Radio 4 -
although BBC World Service and Deutschlandradio are good replacements.
