Scottish restaurants Posted on: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 20:28:44 GMT

I have lived and traveled extensively in Scotland and am always amazed at the
people who complain of the food. Most of the time I have had meals that would
shame many top restaurants in NY Paris London etc.

Having been forced to live int he US for a while, I have lost touch with the
majority of the chefs I used to know and am trying to put together a tour of
Scotland that will not poison my wife and I.

My brother lives near Blairgowrie, so we have that part of Eastern Scotland as
a starting point. We plan on driving up to Grantown, around the top of the
island, back down with a side trip to Skye and than Loch Lomond and all points
south to Carlisle.

Any recommendations based on personal experience are welcome. We are looking
for a combination of suburb local food with a reasonable ambiance. Travel
dates probably late September and budget is somewhere between excessive and
frugal :-)
