OK, like DFM I think I've had enough of RTE.
At one time, I think there were more than sufficient travel-related
threads to keep RTE going as a valid and valuable resource.
Travel-related threads were in the foreground, which left sufficient
room in the background for fun, banter, Mixi-baiting, ScRunge dissing
and interaction between posters who'd been here for a while.
It seems that nowadays the background noise has become the foreground,
and travel-related discussion has, regrettably, become the background.
Yes, in former times there were always America vs Europe threads, with
Go Fig embodying the voice of global corporatism and most disagreeing
with him, but, as I say, enough travel-related discussion to keep it
in the background.
Now, we have hitherto sensible posters falling out with one another,
very little about travel in Europe - although stalwarts such as tile,
Giovanni Drogo and a few others do their best with quality posts to
keep the spirit of RTE alive.
I'm less concerned about the spam than I am about the lack of serious
questions from potential travellers to Europe - and in attempting to
try and be reasonable with the recent question from China about where
he/she/it should go first in Europe, it appears that I have made a
major blunder in answering a question from a Chinese troll. I'm sorry.
I didn't check his/her/its email address. I've had Grönross (or
whatever the . his name is) and that vile piece of filth ScRunge
jumping on my neck and telling me I'm out of order. .
Basically, I give up.
So, anybody recommend any other travel newsgroups, moderated or
otherwise, with lively and sensible debates about travel in Europe?
