Greece must be one of the most child-friendly countries in Europe - the
Greeks love children, babies especially. You'll be able to take part in the
'volta' - the evening parade where Greek families walk up and down wheeling
their babies for all to admire.

I have taken my own car to one or two islands in the past, and I'll probably
do the same later this year in May. However it is relatively expensive and
rather limiting (not all ferries take cars), so island-hopping (i.e. going to
several islands travelling from one to the next) doesn't make much sense with
a vehicle, especially not a rented one. Embarking with a car onto a Greek
ferry can be a rather fraught affair. Passengers normally have to get out,
leaving you, the driver, to reverse your car up a steep ramp from blinding
sunlight into the semi-darkness of the ship's hold, and park (while being
shouted at in Greek).

If you are renting it would much easier and cheaper to rent a car on each
island when you get there. On smaller islands you don't really need a car at
all (a few don't even allow them).
