Have you considered the Peloponnese? Here you have a number of stunning
historic sites - Epidavros, Mycenae, and Mystras just for starters. There are
some nice seaside resorts - we stayed a few days in Kardamyli south of
Kalamata , and mountains too. If you really wanted to experience an island as
well, it's easy to cross to Poros (a 10 minute trip)
