hi alfred
I travelled many times by car to greece
from the twon where I live it is about 2250 kms to Athens and many times I
did it in one day or stopped in Beograd for one night
you have a motorway as far as I remeber till NIS then again near the greek
border and then again from the greek border to Athens
The islands I visited by car were Crete and Rhodos. But i hired the car
locally or had it froma customer of mine
you do not really need a car in any island.
Flights are cheap between Athens and Islands
by ferry as far as I remember it will take you a very very long time
let me recommend you from Rhodos to hop into Turkey
it is only 16 miles to marmaris and it is worth it
again.. I would fly either to Athens or Crete or Rhodos directly
then hire a car locally if necessary
( driving in Greece is somehow wild.. )
but taxis will be much cheaper then hiring a car.
of coruse. it is my experience and only my opinion
