Yes, you hardly ever get any real on going discussions on TripAdvisor,
there's been a few, you get to know the people somewhat, and advice by
the regulars in the German group is excellent, I know that at least
one must work in the travel industry in Germany. Because there is
also the ability to easily e-mail another person to their TripAdvisor
personal website, private converstions are also possible.

However, rte, and other similar groups under the umbrella of Google
groups have become only a shadow of what they once were. A few years
ago it was always enjoyable to watch the banter between different
personalities, which often even was travel related, but most of these
people have left a long time ago and for over five years this group
has continued to decline severely.

In Turkey I've only visited Istanbul for a week and had a great time,
my favorite city for visiting in Europe.
