As, I have already posted, I was aware of the date and it would
not have been much of a joke, IMHO!
Without taking a stand on the "best" type of bulb, a little
rationalization and standardization sounds appropriate. The only
bayonet bulbs I can think of here are some of those in cars
altho' halogen bulbs and flashlight manufacturers have used some
new types including those with pins. All the coiled
fluorescents, even those with three ouput levels, use the
standard screw base. I have replaced all suitable bulbs around
my house with CFLs.
