I am fortunate to have a Mediterranean food store in town. It's run by
this amiable (if opinionated) Lebanese Christian fellow. I stop in
every few weeks to stock up otherwise unobtainable specialties. Today
I got some capers and caponata, as well as some European dessert
treats (that my paunch doesn't need). I also picked up some very fine
Italian EVOO and my personal guilty pleasure: pesto paste.

Yes, I should be grinding basil, pine nuts and garlic in a pestle like
some hunchback Italian grandma if I want to be authentic, but that
pesto paste is really good and easy to prepare. So tonite it will be
pesto farfalle with capers and a nice spinach salad (no dressing - I
just like balsamic vinegar on my salads).
