Beware: with attendants (7:30-12:30 15:00-19:00 or 15:00-19:30 in
summer, saturday afternoon and sunday only few stations, or 24/7 on toll
Higways) you can pay also with credit cards everywhere; on automatic
machines ONLY with cash (banknotes) or pin coded debit cards (I think
only Italian debit cards will works).

Now, sigh, diesel is almost at the same price than gasoline (1,4/1,38).
Still diesel cars have at least 30/40% higher mileage (and run better).

Only few very little and home owned station don't accepts credit cards.
But many, private owned, still taking them, don't like credit cards
(they pay high commissions on credit cards), and someone takes credit
cards only for amounts not too little (e.g. more than 25/30 euros:
sometime I can't refuel my scooter paying with credit card...), but
still normal for every car with almost-empty tank.

Ciao, Piero.
