There still seem to be issues with compatibility between systems in different
countries. I've never had any problems with ATMs in any country, but chip and
PIN devices particularly in smaller places give endless problems. I have
never managed to get an automatic petrol pump in France to work with any
card. These days, as I've said, I don't even try.
