I believe Evelyn is referring to posts that start with something simple like
"Paris transport advice" and then wander off in search of a another subject.
There may be a few legit answers, and then someone asks about restaurant
locations near the Metro. Mixi chimes in with a comment and others have to
debate it and throw in a couple jokes. Before long, every one is sharing
memories about the first time they saw "Babette's Feast" and trying to
remember the actresses' name -- no, not that one, the blonder one -- before
moving onto which type of mandolin chefs prefer. One poster thinks it's a
musical instrument, so there are a few snotty posts about the first poster's
education.

Simultaneously, the restaurant comment has spun off in another direction, as
do several other threads under the same name. Finally, no thread is
sufficiently complete until somebody brings up Adolf Hitler. Then everone
gets huffy and leaves.

Understand now? :-)
