It is possible that things have changed, but the last time I was in
London, I get mine at the tube station in Heathrow.

When I got my 7-day pass, there was no deposit required, so now I have
a free souvenir of the London Tube. The advantage of this kind of
pass is that, if you are tired, you can go ahead and take the tube
between Leicester Square and Covent Garden or any other short hop
without worrying about the expense.

I got a pass for zones 1-2. I took the Picadilly line in to London
and back to LHR. When I got my pass, I told the friendly ticket agent
what I wanted to do. He added two zone supplements to the cost of the
card, which I think was 80p each way. I paid with cash that I got
from the ATM in the arrivals lobby, but I have been told that they
take credit cards.
