Car addicts here often have a problem with the bendy buses. I find them
very comfortable, and they are more accessible, etc. The current London
mayor seems like a bit of a moron when it comes to public transport, and
no doubt the electorate gets the government it deserves. I wouldn't be
surprised if people in greater Manchester voted against the congestion
charge which is proposed for here.
On a personal level, I don't care much either way. I walk 10 minutes to
my main place of work. But congestion is bad for everyone, and better
and cheaper public transport is one of the best things society can do
for the less well off. Pity some car addicts can't see beyond their
steering wheel...
