Having met one of the British soldiers, I feel extremely sorry for them.
I hadn't realised until I met one that they do 6 months in Iraq followed
by six months in Germany until the time that British troops are
withdrawn from Iraq and or Germany. On the plus side their absence means
that P&O North Sea Ferris are no longer partly subsidised by the British
Army to the same extent as before and as a result North Sea Ferry fares
have dropped.
We pay less for a ferry crossing than we were paying 10-15 years ago.
