This is part of the Ibis - Etap Hotel - Formule 1 combination
ran by Accor. The prices decrease in that order.
Equally Accor runs chains in the USA, Motel 6, Studio 6 and Red Roof Inns.
That last time we were in Florida we used Motel 6 in Fort Lauderdale and
Fort Myers. They were fairly brand new and in better condition that
some of the older higher price motels like Ramada. They are rare
in the inner cities like NY, however. We were there in April and
the prices were around $60/night, cheap for Florida.
Motel 6, in its early days, were bare bone places (they arn $6
a night) for which one had to pay extra for TV. Now I would not
class them as bare bones. Some of them have laundry rooms which
is convenient if you are on the road a long time and have to
do some washing.
We standardly use Ibis in France sometimes Campanile. The latter
generally has better food, including a buffet lunch which is good
in the summer. The breakfasts in France now are generally "continental"
at these kinds of places, in the sense of have some cheese and cold cuts
(German-Dutch style) plus the standard French croissants and pain au
chocolate. And of course, corn flakes. Let no cultural preference
be unserved.
In the US, naturally, breakfast is not offered so one heads
to the nearest diner.
