About 20 years a journalist wrote a "travel" book about his journey on
the Western side of the Iron Curtain, he travelled from the Baltic down
to around Trieste IIRC. It was not by anyone famous, e.g. Raban, but
it was a good and detailed book.
It would be interesting to take the same journey now with that book as
a reference...
Very vague I know, but I can't remember the title or author...
