Work ethic has little to do with the success of a country. The
Japanese and Germans are famed for their work ethic, but oddly their
economies are just limping along.
Americans are being completely ripped off. They work a lot more hours
than Europeans, (and a lot more than Americans did a generation ago)
yet they are still up to their eyeballs in debt.
