Hmm, Munich/Denver/Cancun on LH/UAL, although the plane change in Denver
can be a problem in the winter; so perhaps MUC/ATL/CUN on Delta?
Eastbound there is a 5 hour layover in ATL, arrives MUC 7:55 am. That
should give enough time to make a Falconara flight.

Anyway, you had time for a bit of sightseeing in Mexico City to take the
edge off the missed concnection. My impression from a brief perusal of
the LH web site is that yours was not an official connection of any
sort, they were just doing a favor by issuing the Mexican ticket.
