I found the orthodox church interesting. I _love_ the Chagall Museum,
and that's by far the high point of our few days there. Don't remember
particularly unusual shops- a lot of them are of the expensive variety-
but I think we liked some of the smaller curio shops in the old quarter.
That's where the bars are. Some of them were OK- I wouldn't call any of
the ones we popped into cool, and these things come and go anyway in
popularity. If you're used to smoke-free Italy, I'd skip them though,
and be careful where you dine. Many French smoke like bloody chimneys,
and try and make sure they ruin other diners' meals whenever possible-
with luck, there will be more non-smoking tourists though- Nice isn't a
typical French town obviously. Regarding Martin's point about food, Nice
isn't the best of France, but I don't think it's bad either. The simpler
restaurants tended to be very good. They have some really top-end places
in terms of price- I'm not sure if Nice would be the best place to try
such an establishment though- with the tourists and all.
