Mephisto shoes are sold in stores other than the dedicated store in
Montparnasse. If you French isn't strong or if you don't have a high
tolerance for pantomiming to make yourself understood, you might want to
consider buying from a more tourist-central location. When my husband
bought shoes at this location a number of years ago, we realized that my
French, which is largely up to the task in most situations, didn't
include vocabulary words like "width" or "pinches the arch of his foot,"
etc.
