What do you mean by purse? My mum's "purse" would have fit in a laptop
bag. If you mean something bigger, than I imagine they will consider it
an extra piece. FWIW, it's not just the airlines that are cracking down,
but the airports themselves. On a recent flight out of Manchester, my
partner successfully checked in with one carry-on and a large plastic
bag, but was then forced to consolidate the contents at security.
