The same guy had been up in court before over a having-.-with-shoes-
in-public offence. Somebody contacted the British Shoe Federation for
their opinion - they said that if you'd paid for a pair of their shoes,
as far as they were concerned you could do whatever you liked with them.
(I knew the guy slightly. He was a few eyelets short of the full Doc
Marten).
