Kebabberies run by Turks in the UK have no problem doing it without
measurements. A kebab in one town here typically has the same meat in it
as the next IME. Sounds to me more like a habit, a bit like the way
countries further south in Europe tend to be more anal about giving you
change. I gave a 10 euro note to some for an 80 cent coffee recently,
and she looked as though her eyes would have popped out. The nearest ATM
to the cafe was only giving out 50 euro notes, so go figure...
