If you tell this group what location you are staying at they may even advise
best place to change from Piccadilly Line of Tube if needed.
Some stations dont have escalators or Elevator/lifts, only stairs which are
a bit of a pain with cases/luggage.
I am doing exactly same thing in June and change from Piccadilly line to
Central line at Holborn.
If you dont have a ticket, there is a a machine as you leave airport to
statioon and also after 7am (from memory )
there is a ticket booth and perosn who can advise.
If you want to use tube again for that day, a 1-6 zone day ticket (peak or
off peak)
maybe useful instead of a single trip ticket.
You are also able get a 7 day travelcard for zones 1-2 (which does most
things people go to see)
and get an addon for the trip from Heathrow zone 6 to zone 2 where your zone
1-2 travel card then applies.
7 day Travel cards purchased before departing are dated from a date for 7
consecutive days.

On the Tube, you just place your luggage with yourself immediately inside
the door (there is room for 4 people at each door) and your cases will be
OK.
DONT leave them by door and sit away from them unless the adjacent seat to
cases is empty and you sit there.
You may cause a terrorist scare if you leave baggage unattended.
Place your arm on the case if sitting alongside it, as this tells people its
yours.
