I stay overnight before catching the ferry home, to Edinburgh, to save any
excitement if I get stuck in traffic and am running late. I stop sometimes
in Ghent or Antwerp depending on which direction I am coming from which are
both pleasant places to spend a night or two. Brugge is my favourite but
beware that it is a very popular tourist destination and it is quite small.
Don't be tempted to have a meal in the Markt, the big square with the huge
bell tower, because the restaurants are all tourist traps and the food is
not very good. It will repay you many fold to wander off a couple of streets
away where you can find lots of fine places to eat and drink. I have found
most of the people in Flanders to be quite helpful. This is probably because
they use up all their spare aggression by abusing the Walloons, the French
speaking half of the country J

I hope you have a nice time.
