Oh, I doubt I had either, before I started researching the trip. This
time last week, I had no clue we'd travel to Nuoro, a province as well
as a city. In fact, it wasn't until we asked someone at our hotel in
Alghero where they'd suggest as typically Sardinian and different to
Alghero that we thought about Dolgari. By far, the best food we had was
there. One of the restaurants, by all accounts, seems to be at least as
good as many of the agriturismo places- though unfortunately, we didn't
make it to one. Alghero food was mostly fine too, but fish isn't really
that Sardinian a cuisine, though all the tourists (Italian and
otherwise) seem to expect it.

Though I mentioned it in another group, among the best dishes I had
included suckling pig, boar, lamb, lamb intestines (I can't remember the
right name), and a ravioli-type pasta stuffed with cheese, potato and
mint. Don't recall seeing any kind of poultry on a menu anywhere FWIW.
Cheese was excellent, of course, and some very good wines. Rather liked
the myrtlo too, and our B&B hosts in Dorgali made some excellent
homemade stuff too! :)
