There's the Unter den Linden. Other than that one street and a few
old hotels, there's not much remaining from before 1945.

You're not going to live in Alexanderplatz, you're there to experience
it for what it is, for better or worse. East Berlin wasn't warm and
fuzzy - the alienating architecture is one aspect of the real East
Berlin that its inhabitants lived with.
