VAT wasn't charged by the Dutch.
I've never paid Dutch VAT on mail order books.
I have found the invoice on abebooks tracking there is no sign of VAT
Exactly which country the vendor was located in was fuzzy. I found the book via
abebooks.com ordered from the cheapest provider, Paperbackbook LTD, Fairford
they transferred the order to abebooks who transferred the order to
Books2Anywhere.com .
Still haven't worked out how it can possibly be cheaoer to ship a book from the
USA via News Zealand :-)
I paid substantially less than the original quoted price. I had a feeling that
there was confusion between GBP and USD at the time the order was converted to
an order to the USA.
I've never paid Dutch VAT on mail order books yet.
