Something must have been wrong on your ferry trip. The normal time from
Rhodes to Karpathos is 4 to 5 hours. The distance is only about 90 miles, so
12 hours means a speed of less than 8 mph. I don't know what that is in
knots, but it's way too slow for even the oldest and slowest of ferries.
