Looks pretty affordable.

However, it's not exactly the same Smart as the ones sold in Europe;
it's slightly modified for the American market. Also, it comes with a
gas-burning engine instead of a diesel-burner, so the fuel consumption
won't be quite as stingy as the European-market versions.

The reason Smarts aren't affordable now is because they're imported by
a third-party importer, and they have to sell them at a very high markup
in order to make a profit. For that kind of money, it makes more sense
to get a Toyota Prius.
