I just have to settle for my past flights from London to San Francisco
about over the middle of Greenland. The black cliffs with "bites"
taken out of them contrasting with the snow is beautiful. And I
always thought of clouds as being white until seeing them over the Ice
Cap there where they appear gray, the snow and ice being the only real
white!
I enjoyed my Iceland trip, but I won't ever return because of the
expensive costs, and will never go to Greenland for the same reason,
although I would love to see it from the ground. (You can also take a
boat up the coast in Labrador, again very expensive.) The Iceland
thermal areas are rather disappointing if you've ever visited
Yellowstone. One small geyser can't really compare, although one of
them is the origin of that word. My best memory of Iceland, being a
geologist, was standing with one foot on the American tectonic plate
and the other on the European plate.
