So far this strike has not been as bad as the worst
I have seen in our 30+ years in Paris.
First-the electricity is not being cut off periodically.
Second-some of the Parisian public transportation is working.
http://www.rmc.fr/greves/trafic-ratp.html
for instance;
Lignes 1 et 3bis : service quasi normal
Lignes 2, 5 et 9 : 1 rame toutes les 10 min
Ligne 3 : 1 rame toutes les 15 min
Lignes 4 et 11 : 1 rame toutes les 5 min
Lignes 6, 7, 7bis et 12 : 1 rame toutes les 20 min
Ligne 8 : 1 rame toutres les 35 min
Ligne 10 : service quasi nul
Ligne 13 : 1 rame toutes les 10 min
(Branche G.Péri - Asnières Gennevilliers non assurée)
Ligne 14 : fonctionne normalement
the bus system is working at about 50%
I have seen strikes were the whole system is down for days.
A friend of ours, who just arrive this morning on a flight
from Boston was able to get into Paris by Air France Cars
and take the 96 bus to her apartment. Another friend took
the TGV from London to Paris and back this weekend without
difficulty.
On the other hand transportation into and out of Paris
from the Banlieue in worse shape. But we Parisians
manage nicely, and rent a bike if necessary.
Sarko will likely weather this first challenge without too
much difficulty. Pension rights will be modified and
the country then will by on its way towards the future,
again. This is no 68.
