Isn't there a difference in the way you're supposed/allowed to eat the
noodles as well? I always thought you ate the Japanese ones pushing them
from a small bowl into your mouth, so chopsticks are actually useful
since they pinch in addition to pushing (unlike a spoon, for instance),
whereas in Italian cuisine the plate doesn't leave the table and it's
the fork that does the lifting into your mouth?
Obviously need to do my own research on this... Now, for cheap flights
to Tuscany then Kyoto...
