Subject: Re: Tourist expenses in the UK? Posted on: Tue, 04 Dec 2007 01:24:11 GMT

The Euro was an experiment, and has had mixed success.

An experiment?.

Dream on.

In the old days travelling in Europe was a nightmare from hell cash wise.
All that faffing around from one place to the next.
East Berlin was a joke- changing the good mark for the eastern "toy" money
that was
impossible to spend.
As for the £ I must make sure I have english notes every time I cross the
"border"from bonnie Scotland--.
Its medieval.
The majority in the UK do nt give a toss for the £-but daft politico s and
currency speculators do-
plus fat cat newspaper owners.
Roll on the UK euro-I wish.
I do nt blame tourists for missing the UK on their itinery--its very poor
value for money
just now eg typical room for the night in the UK £50-----£100 excluding
breakfast.
Traditional {mud roof -tree trunk lintels-etc} spotless apartment with
kitchen 2 balconies stunning views bedroom and fresh linen every day-
Capiliera{Spain} 35 euros per night-including wood stove-firewood and
central heating.
Mind you I think the west coast of Scotland on a sunny day takes some
beating-come to that the central Highlands are stunning-then
there s the Outer Hebrides------------.
