I have had so many downright refusals I have given up!.
The best was the "duty free" at Schipol airport.
I bought £40 of whisky produced my boarding pass and 2 £20 Scottish notes.
She rung up the till{computer} and then refused the cash.
I waited for fireworks!!.
The 10 Germans behind me contained themselves for about 2 minutes and
then started their usuall shouting-my plane went in 2 hours-I was quite
relaxed.
The manager arrived and the Germans started shouting at him.
Being non UK staff he actually bothered about the near riot and told me
sternly
"we do not accept Scottish bank notes" and then pushed the receipt and the
£40
at me.
Since I already had my 1 litre bottle of 15 year old single malt I was quite
happy.
