It is not as bad as some folks make it sound. I grew up in the Midwest
USA and found August last year in PV to be very hot but I did not
complain as much as the locals and ex-pats. May is a beautiful month,
June getting hotter, then right up to Sept. being the wettest and
hottest/muggy. Oct. goes back to pleasant all around.

There are no ruins near PV but it has such a remarkable charm one must
see it once in their life. Just lovely. Beaches better at Cancun though
but much more touristy and less regional customs. Your choice...
