To the OP:
BA is a perfectly fine city. There is poverty there, and high
unemployment, but in terms of safety, I don't think you really have to
worry. Nobody is going to kidnap your daughter, and BA is just as
safe, if not safer than, most large American cities. Employment
prospects are a different story, but you don't need to sit up nights
worrying about your daughter's safety.
