Re: Traveling to Peru in July, need advice about companies Posted on: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 10:25:48 +0000 (UTC)

I think you can travel alone...
I went to Peru last year in July and I flew from Amsterdam by KLM. Then
I had some internal flights by LAN Peru and moved also by Orient
Express train which you can book on Internet
(http://www.orient-express.com/). They make the line
Arequipa-Puno-Cusco-Machu Picchu.
It was amazing! If you do not travel in the night the country is secure
and policemen are everywhere (also on the trains). In Puno and Cusco
there are a lot of travel agencies which brings you to the Titicaca
lake and to the Inka Trail (you can book for a 1 to 5 day tracking
journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu). Moreover you can book for Manu
national park directly from there. I booked for Explorama Tours in
Iquitos area on the Amazon River. It was great. You stay in a deluxe
cottage in the middle of the jungle! Believe me it is easy to move in
Peru...
