G...or G (I can never tell 'em apart) is a one-note idiot.
I suspect he/she must have been unable to find a cruise boat that stops
anywhere on the Caribbean side, hence the near pathological hatred.

In any event, the area from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo is spectacular. Great
beaches, food, and culture. And less expensive than much of the Pacific
side.

Granted, it's a little rougher around the edges. However, if you're a
traveler, as opposed to a tourist, you'll find much to like.

MA is definitely more 'polished'.
'More to do' is a judgement call.
