Erika,
If you truly are fluent in Spanish, then you will have no trouble getting
around, and finding accommodations. I traveled through Lima, Cuzco, Aguas
Calientes, Machu Picchu, Iquitos and the Amazon. Using a tour group is a
good way to waste your money when traveling in South America. The places you
are going to are well traveled and accommodations are plentiful. I was there
in May which was a perfect time, and July I suspect will be much busier, but
I found many Hostels/Hospedajes and Hotels on the internet and booked many
of our rooms online. We stayed mostly in mid-range hotels.
