There are very few trains in Argentina, but the country has a bus system
that is probably among the best in the world. The main bus terminal in
Buenos Aires, in the Retiro neighborhood (downtown), has dozens of bus
companies offering travel to destinations all over Argentina as well as to
neighboring countries.

I would not recommend renting a car; traffic in Buenos Aires can be
challenging, to say the least, and Argentine drivers all over the country
seem to consider such things as stop signs and speed limits to be
suggestions, not requirements.
