Subject: Re: Bus or Train Service Through Mexico from Tapachula ( southern Posted on: Mon, 13 Mar 2006 01:01:27 GMT

The website listed below is good, but remember that most bus lines in
Mexico have no web sites, let alone web sites with schedules.

From Tapachula to Acapulco, I am afraid that your best route is via
Mexico City, 17 hours from Tapachula to Mexico City, and another few
hours from Mexico City to Acapulco. It looks like the long way, but the
territory is mountainous, so the shortest distance between two points is
not a straight line on a map.

Remember that taxi robberies are a problem in Mexico City, so buy your
taxi ticket at the bus station and take it to the official taxi stand.
You will probably need to change from the TAPO bus station to the Sur
bus station in Mexico City.

My bus book says that Elite line has one bus per day between Acapulco
and Puerto Vallarta, 18 hours. Otherwise you will need to change buses
once or twice.

Be sure to have a map of Mexico to help you figure out which bus to take
if you cannot find a conveniently scheduled bus to your destination,
just go from large city to large city until you get close to your
destination.
