Though, Don, you seem to disparage those types who sit at Blue Chairs,
I'm one of 'em. When I can find a spot there! Though I've never stayed at
that hotel.
One of the things I truly like about PV south of the Rio Cuale is that
it *IS* a Mecca for gay and bohemian travelers who aren't out to parade
their prejudices and hang-ups, but rather take and accept people as they
are, not as they *think* they should be. And that's where the vast majority
of the fun, cool, and sometimes, but not always, gay Mexicans I've met and
become friends with congregate.
I could see an AI at someplace where there is nothing around but
wilderness, but Vallarta has so much and, like I said, I've never had a
time-share hustler not accept a firm "no" (which, by the way for the
Spanish-impaired is the same as in English).
I went to Vallarta once with some family members -- fairly conservative
types -- and they traded their time-share or some such for a room at the
Westin or whatever you call one of those mega-resorts in Nueva Vallarta that
has all the interconnected pools and palm trees far, far from the centro.
We stayed, as always, near Olas Altas and Playa de los Muertos. I can't
*imagine* staying wrapped up in cotton batting like they were up there, but
a cada uno su gusto.
