Can't answer your question directly but I assume that if, for instance,
you're taking a leave of absence from your job, a letter from your
employer saying that you're expected to be back to work whatever number
of months later, that could work too (that's what I hope to be doing
next year for a May to September exploration of Central and perhaps
South America).
