Subject: Is Venezuela off-limits for Americans? Posted on: Sat, 13 May 2006 00:55:49 GMT

Hi. We just got it into our heads to try to see Angel Falls, which we had
tried to do years ago and couldn't accomplish. It seems that facilities are
now in place not far from the falls to accomodate tourists.

Now I can't find a flight to Venezuela from the US. Everything seems to go
in by the back door, ie Bogota. The last time we flew to Caracas from NY,
it was a 4 hr flight, and now you'd do well to get there in 24 hrs. I think
I understand the politics, but does anyone know a good way to get there?

From NY to Isla Margarita, it looks like an ordeal of 24 hrs and 7 flights!
Is this really possible in this day and age?

sorry, just venting.

Keith
