I've spent a lot of time in the region and, at the cost of enraging
some readers, here is my opinion. Scale is 0 = 10

Texas 6
Mexico 5
Honduras 2
Guatemala 3
Costa Rica 6
Panama 8
Ecuador 9

That's as far south as I have been and I skipped a few in Central
America. I understand that Argentina has excellent beef.

Panama has the best cevechi (IMHO)

When you order 'gallo pinto' in Costa Rica, don't bother looking for
the chicken.

Fried bananas (platano) should not be considered a food for humans.

Off topic, but Panama hats are made only in Ecuador. :<)
