I live in Santa Rosa de Copán, and have since 1994. I have never seen nor
heard of gang activity here in all that time. I consider myself safer here
than in my native U.S., to be honest. In the rougher neighborhoods of San
Pedro Sula, yes, there are gangs, but as a traveler you would have no
reason to go to those neighborhoods even in the absence of gangs.
