Subject: summer in Buenos Aires Posted on: Sun, 21 Jan 2007 23:14:04 +0000 (UTC)

I am going to Buenos Aires early next month.

One of my travel guide books had this comment to make about the locals.
It said, and I am paraphrasing, that those that live in BA are very
image conscious and that if you walk down the street wearing shorts,
sneakers and a baseball cap, you'd be pegged as a tourist (with all the
positive or negative connotations).

It is summer there. While I do not wear cut off jean shorts, what does
anyone expect a person, who is not dressed for his job, to wear in the
summer? I am going to pack whatever clothes I feel are appropriate,
but I hardly think that elegant casual for the middle of summer for a
visitor is called for.

Can anyone comment on this?
