Yes, you're right. One reason I made the difficult decision
to cut Peru and Brazil from my trip was that I realised that
after I leave South America I travel on to the USA, UK,
Egypt, Jordan, India, Thailand, Cambodia and finally home.
Most of those restrict entry if you have been to a YF zone.
And, yes, it is a live virus and thus unsuitable for me.

The last thing I need is a dispute with a health official on
arrival in a foreign land because I don't have a vaccination
despite having a certificate for Peru. They don't care if I
get ill, only that I may be a carrier.

So, on to the next planning question. My son warned me
against Mexico City because of pollution and infection
worries. I'm prepared to chance it in Yucatan, Cairo, Delhi,
Bangkok and Phnom Penh so I'm wondering why Mexico City
seems so bad. Any comments from anyone with experience
there? Is he being over-alarmist?

Cheers, Alan, Australia
